Stiniva is a horseshoe cove where two limestone cliffs close in to leave a narrow 4-metre gap to the open sea — the beach is a small crescent of white pebble reached either by a steep 20-minute hike down or by boat. Voted Europe's best beach in 2016, it's still remote enough to feel like a discovery. Vis itself is Croatia's most far-flung inhabited island and was a closed military base until 1989.
