Baredine drops 132 metres into the Istrian karst, opening into five chambers full of stalactite curtains, calcite waterfalls and a 'Snowman' stalagmite that looks exactly as advertised. The tour lasts 40 minutes, ends at a small underground lake, and gives you a decent chance of spotting the olm — the pink, blind cave salamander that lives only in the caves of the Dinaric karst. A constant 14°C inside is a blessing in August heat.
