History
A neoclassical country palace surrounded by a huge English-style park of exotic trees planted by the aristocratic Pejačević family in the 19th century. The castle is now a museum with a good collection dedicated to composer Dora Pejačević, one of Croatia's most important classical composers. The grounds — some 30 hectares — are free to wander any day of the year.
“Dora Pejačević, born into this family, wrote Croatia's first modern symphony in 1918 — well before women composers were widely accepted in Europe.”
