Why visit Rizvan City — Rizvanuša
A ten-minute drive from Gospić up the flanks of southern Velebit brings you to the wooden gate of Rizvan City — an unpretentious but internationally acclaimed family-run ranch and adventure park in the village of Rizvanuša. Founded in the 1990s and now the most-visited outdoor centre in Lika, it offers everything you could want from a mountain-country day trip: guided horseback rides through beech forest to hidden mountain meadows; a zipline over the Novčica river gorge; a 4WD safari up to Velebit viewpoints normally closed to cars; and after all that, a hearty peka-cooked Lika lamb dinner around a communal outdoor table.

History
The ranch also has small wooden cabins for overnight stays and is a superb base for climbing Vaganski Vrh or exploring nearby Cerovac Caves. In autumn, guided mushroom-hunting walks scoop up porcini in the surrounding forests; in winter, a small ski tow operates when snow allows. Booking a day in advance is essential in summer; walk-ins may struggle. Adventure-quality of a Colorado mountain lodge at a fraction of the price and with a lot more brown bears in the surrounding woods.
“The ranch's owner is a former Croatian national champion in mounted archery and occasionally gives short demonstrations to guests — one of very few places in Europe you can watch this ancient sport up close.”
