Why visit Krka National Park
Krka's centrepiece is Skradinski Buk — a cascade of 17 travertine steps where the Krka river drops into a wide green pool. Wooden boardwalks weave right across the waterfalls; boats continue upriver to the tiny island monastery of Visovac and the more remote Roški Slap.

History
Krka's centrepiece is Skradinski Buk — a cascade of 17 travertine steps where the Krka river drops into a wide green pool. Wooden boardwalks weave right across the waterfalls; boats continue upriver to the tiny island monastery of Visovac and the more remote Roški Slap. Swimming below the falls stopped in 2021 to protect the fragile travertine, but the views and the accessibility (you can do the whole thing from Split in one long day) still make Krka one of Croatia's most rewarding parks.
“Krka has one of only two hydroelectric power plants in the world that opened for commercial use on the same day as one of Tesla's designs — August 28, 1895, just two days after Niagara Falls.”
