Why visit
Why visit Buzet — City of Truffles
Buzet's old town rises on a limestone hill above the Mirna valley — the heart of Istrian truffle country. The town's centre is quiet and half-forgotten, but for two weekends a year it explodes with the Truffle Days festival, when an enormous frittata cooked in a two-metre pan (with over 2,000 eggs and 10 kg of truffles) is served to whoever can queue for a plate.

History
Buzet's old town rises on a limestone hill above the Mirna valley — the heart of Istrian truffle country. The town's centre is quiet and half-forgotten, but for two weekends a year it explodes with the Truffle Days festival, when an enormous frittata cooked in a two-metre pan (with over 2,000 eggs and 10 kg of truffles) is served to whoever can queue for a plate. The nearby Zigante shop has world-record truffle displays.
“Buzet's giant truffle omelette is cooked in a pan built specifically for the event — 2,500 eggs and about 10 kilograms of shaved truffle in a single serving.”
